Recurring anxieties about the adolescent girl in Australia from 1800 to the present day.
Beverley Kingston is a social historian. She talks about the recurrent concerns about raising, educating and controlling adolescent girls in Australia. Beginning with the contemporary campaign against binge drinking, Beverley looks back through the guide books, manuals, books of advice and sociological studies on the subject that have appeared over the last 200 years. Some of the books and manuals she has used in her research will be on display.
